Digital influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate, who are brothers, were arrested this Sunday (19), in the United States. The extradition of the two was requested by the United Kingdom to face new charges of rape, sex trafficking and assault. British police said the pair were detained “pending ongoing legal proceedings”.
The American website TMZ published, on the social network X, images of the arrest of the self-proclaimed misogynist brothers, in Miami.
The Tates hold dual British and American citizenship and are supporters of US President Donald Trump.
The British Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement that it had decided to prosecute 39-year-old Andrew Tate on a further seven counts of rape, three counts of agency or facilitation of trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault causing bodily harm and 19 additional counts of crimes relating to indecent images of children and pornography.
Tristan Tate, 38, will be prosecuted for one crime of sexual assault, two crimes of rape and three crimes of agency or facilitation of human trafficking for the purposes of sexual exploitation.
The MP points out that the crimes occurred between July 2010 and August 2017.
“These charging decisions follow the receipt of a new dossier of evidence from Bedfordshire Police and bring the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven,” said Malcolm McHaffie, head of the Special Crimes Division at the Crown Prosecution Service.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are ongoing and that these defendants are entitled to a fair trial,” McHaffie added.
To the website TMZthe brothers’ lawyer, Joseph McBride, considered the arrest unfair. He claims that the influencers have traveled the world in recent years without incident and that the two have collaborated with the Romanian justice system, where they are also responsible for crimes.
