It is the lowest level since April; in the monthly comparison, prices increased 0.3% in July

The annual inflation rate in Italy slowed in July 2026, reaching 2.9% compared to 3% observed in June. The numbers were released this Wednesday (12.Aug.2026) by Istat (Italian National Institute of Statistics).

In the monthly comparison, prices increased 0.3% in July, accelerating in relation to the stable reading of the previous month.

In the HICP (index harmonized with the European Union), Italian annual inflation also fell to 2.9% in July, compared to 3% in the previous month. In monthly terms, HICP recorded a decline of 1%, reflecting discounts in summer sales.
