This Friday (13), Russia carried out a massive bombing of Ukraine’s energy and defense infrastructure, classified as the most intense air attack since the beginning of the war. Russian Vladimir Putin’s offensive had extreme precision when attacking targets and no reports of casualties emerged. Information shows that 287 missiles and drones were used.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, this attack is in retaliation for US missiles (ATACMS) fired by Ukrainians that hit an air base in Rostov this week. These missiles have excellent accuracy even from more than 300 kilometers away.
Before this Russian retaliation, the biggest attack promoted by Putin had taken place in August, when 236 missiles were fired along with attack drones.

Regarding this Friday’s events, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reduced the numbers to 94 missiles and 193 drones which, according to the Kiev government, 81 missiles and 80 drones were shot down by air defenses, as well as 105 drones did not reach their targets.
Despite this, the damage done to the power grid was latent just weeks before winter began. The International Atomic Energy Agency had to reduce power generation in 5 of Ukraine’s 9 nuclear reactors due to the attack.
As a result, a large part of the population was temporarily without power. The private company DTEK spoke of serious damage to one of its thermal power plants.
As Putin advances through the air, troops on the ground approach a strategic city, Pokrovsk. Losing this post in the east of the country, classified as a “backbone” for Ukrainian defense, as it connects several cities, could be a serious blow to Zelensky’s interests, being one of the biggest setbacks in months of war.
