A FDA (Food and Drug Administration) of the United States approved, this Wednesday (26.Aug.2026), Rasonque, a medicine developed by Revolution Medicines for the treatment of metastatic pancreatic cancer. Here’s the complete of the statement (PDF—45KB).
According to the pharmacistclinical studies showed that the drug reduced the risk of death by 60% and demonstrated survival benefits when compared to chemotherapy.
Rasonque (active ingredient daraxonrasib) is a tablet taken once a day. The approval is intended for patients who have already received prior treatment or who are unable to receive combination systemic therapy.
The drug was developed to block multiple forms of the RAS protein, involved in tumor growth in several types of pancreatic cancers.
The approval represents a breakthrough for one of the most difficult diseases to treat in oncology. The American Cancer Society estimates that 67,350 patients will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the United States in 2026.
A Revolution Medicines reported that the drug is already available in the USA at a cost of US$39,800 (around R$205 thousand, at current prices) for 30 days of treatment. The company stated that it will also offer a financial assistance program to patients.
