Delcy Rodriguez stated that the initiative is the result of strengthening bilateral relations between countries

To the president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez (MSV, left)confirmed this Saturday (29.Aug.2026) that the country reached an agreement with the United States government to expand investments and oil production. He stated that the initiative will have a “significant impact” in the recovery of the Venezuelan economy.

In a post on social media, Rodríguez said that the text establishes the development of 17 strategic fields, with a proven potential of 65 billion barrels of oil. The estimate is for investments of more than US$100 billion and more than US$209 billion in taxes for the Venezuelan State.

According to the president, the resources will be allocated to the recovery and modernization of the hydrocarbon industry, in addition to contributing to economic growth, job creation and energy security in the region.

Rodríguez thanked US President Donald Trump (Republican Party)to the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and to the North American government for their support. According to her, the agreement is a “historic landmark” in bilateral relations and opens a “new era of recovery, growth, production, security and prosperity” for Venezuela.
