The documentary “Fidel and Socialist Cuba – Burning the Skies”, produced by Brazil in fact about the thoughts and legacy of Fidel Castro and the current challenges of the Cuban Revolution, will be officially launched this Wednesday (26), in São Paulo (SP).
The event starts at 6pm, at Livraria Expressão Popular, located in the same building as Armazém do Campo, at Alameda Nothmann, 806, in the center of São Paulo.

The program begins with a panel discussion with the documentary’s directors, Igor Carvalho and Rodrigo Chagas, as well as João Pedro Stedile, historic leader of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) and personal friend of Fidel Castro.
Released in the centenary year of the Cuban leader’s birth, the documentary starts from Fidel’s thoughts to discuss the challenges currently faced by Cuba. A decade after his death, the country is experiencing a period marked by the tightening of the United States blockade, the energy crisis, fuel shortages and strong economic restrictions.
Recorded mainly in Havana and nearby cities, the film brings together interviews and experiences that show how Fidel’s legacy remains present in areas such as education, science and biotechnology, food production, cooperativism, culture and popular organization.
“Fidel and Socialist Cuba – Burning the Skies” follows different generations of Cubans and seeks to understand how Fidel’s thinking is taken up in the search for answers to the current challenges of socialism on the island.
