A joint statement between the presidents of France and Latin American countries will be released this Tuesday (18) in favor of a political solution to end Venezuela’s isolation in the international context.
The document was put together in a meeting on the sidelines of the CELAC-European Union Summit, this Monday (17), between the presidents of France, Emannuel Macron, of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, the Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, and the representative of the Venezuelan opposition, Gerardo Blyde.
Diplomats who had access to the text of the declaration say that the focus will be on the need for a political solution to the Venezuelan crisis taking into account free elections in 2024.

According to an investigation by O Globo, the French government’s assessment is that the presence of Lula’s president at the negotiating tables on the issue of Venezuela has changed the dynamics of the debate.
In Macron’s assessment, the Brazilian president’s entry into the articulations to end the crisis is decisive.
“Lula is a new element, but decisive, since Brazil represents the main demographic and economic power in Latin America, with a decisive weight to influence the resolution of the Venezuelan crisis and bring an agreement between the parties”, he observed.
