At least 41 people died in a terrorist attack on Lhubiriha secondary school in the city of Mpondwe, carried out by jihadist rebels linked to the Islamic State group in Uganda, Africa. The attack took place last Friday (16) in the city that borders the Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to Mayor Selevest Mapoze, quoted by the AP, 41 bodies have already been found, including 38 students. The attack also killed two members of the local community and a guard.
Ugandan authorities blame the attack on the Democratic Armed Forces (ADF), a Ugandan jihadist militia that has sworn allegiance to the Islamic State and uses eastern Congo as a base.
The terrorists burned down a high school dormitory and also looted a nearby market. A military spokesman even said that some students were kidnapped.

According to police information, the jihadists were seen in the Virunga National Park, in Congo, and are being pursued by Ugandan troops.
This is not the first time the ADF has attacked a school in Uganda. In 1998, the group burned 80 students alive at another high school near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo and kidnapped more than 100.
In early March, the United States offered a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the capture of the terrorist group’s leader, Musa Baluku.
