China intends to continue economic and technological development during the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan, from 2026 to 2030. The statement was made by Chinese President Xi Jinping during a solemn reception held in Beijing on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, reported China Daily, a partner of TV Brics.

Xi Jinping called for a successful start to the new five-year plan and advocated maintaining the principle of “pursuing progress while maintaining stability.” Among the priorities are the development of high-technology sectors, the strengthening of basic research and the expansion of the country’s technological autonomy.

The plan will pay special attention to semiconductors, artificial intelligence, computing technologies, advanced materials, biotechnology and new energy. Over the five-year period, Chinese spending on research and development is expected to grow, on average, by more than 7% per year.

The Chinese leader also highlighted that the country will continue to advance towards national rejuvenation.

“The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is irreversible,” he said.

According to the president, the Chinese economy maintains its growth trajectory. In the first half of 2026, the country’s Gross Domestic Product increased 4.7% compared to the same period of the previous year. The services sector grew 5.2%, while the manufacturing industry recorded an increase of 5.5%.

To sustain economic activity, the government adopts measures to stimulate credit and offers support to the real estate sector, private and small companies, agriculture and infrastructure projects.

In foreign policy, Beijing intends to maintain an independent and peaceful trajectory, in addition to promoting four global initiatives aimed at development, security, interaction between civilizations and international governance.

The People’s Republic of China was proclaimed on October 1, 1949. In 2026, the country celebrates the 77th anniversary of its founding.
