Donald Trump’s government has intensified its offensive against the traditional press by revoking credentials from White House journalists, removing Pentagon media vehicles, and expanding the access of conservative influencers linked to Elon Musk.

At the same time, 8,000 official government sites were disabled or altered, eliminating health information, human rights and public policies.

The removal of government sites has affected pages of hospitals, scientific research and social programs, making it difficult to access the population to essential information.

Disease Control Centers (CDC) had data on HIV and health LGBTQ+ removed, meeting Trump’s direct orders. Medical organizations warn of the risks of this measure in the management of infectious diseases and epidemics control.

While restricting institutional information, the government has opened accreditation for influencers, podcasters and content creators to participate in the White House conferences. More than 12,000 influencers have already requested credentials, including government -aligned communicators.

Experts point out that replacing traditional media with communicators without commitment to journalistic ethics can lead to information manipulation.

The offensive against the press includes the removal of the New York Times, NBC, NPR and Pentagon’s offices policy, replacing them with Breitbart, One America News Network and New York Post, government-favorable vehicles.

The Pentagon Press Association criticized the measure as an attack on transparency and the right to access information.

Trump appointed Darren Beattie for a high -ranking position in the State Department. He was a writer of White House speeches and was fired after the revelation that he had participated in a white supremacist conference in 2016. Even so, he maintained proximity to conservative circles and was later rehabilitated within the Trumpist movement, receiving new positions and influence on the government.

In addition to the reconfiguration of the institutional press, Trump started a legal offensive against media vehicles.

CBS was pressured to deliver gross materials from the “60 Minutes” program, and a complaint against the station was recovered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), now under the control of an ally of the president.

The government also defends punishments for social networks that exclude conservative accounts.

At the same time, Elon Musk consolidated himself as a central piece in government communication, transforming X (former Twitter) into an official channel for public government.

Experts point out that this change centralizes state narrative and favors misinformation.

The National Press Association denounced Trump’s offensive as a “erasure of journalism” in the US.

Democratic senators prepare actions to investigate Musk’s influence on government restructuring, while the case should reach the Supreme Court, with media entities claiming that Trump administration is violating the first amendment.

The closure of institutional websites follows the same pattern of erasing public transparency started with the dissolution of USAID.

The government seeks to concentrate information only from aligned sources, eliminating independent and institutional channels.

This strategy is compared to authoritarian government communication models.
