The Israeli army began military operation that expelled 40,000 Palestinians from refugee camps in Jenin, Tul Karem and Nur al-Shams in West Bank. The Brazilian government issued a statement by Itamaraty, in a concern, condemned the “employment of tanks and military occupation”.
The operation of Israel’s Armed Forces in northern West Bank is considered the largest in 20 years, generating tens of thousands of displaced people. In 2005 the last invasion of Palestinian territory had occurred by war tanks.
Information on the emptying of the fields with more than 40,000 people was made by the defense minister, Israel Katz.

The measure also raises concern about the direction of the ceasefire in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it difficult to release Palestinian prisoners after the release of Israeli videos before they are released by Hamas. The situation added to the invasion of the West Bank, in which Katz asked the military to prepare “prolonged stay”, puts a new boil in the conflict.

Israeli military operations in Palestinian refugee camps
The Brazilian government expresses strong concern with the intensification, in recent weeks, of Israeli military operations in the refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarm and Nur al-Shams, in northern West Bank, and condemns the recent use of tanks and military occupation. In this context, it deplores forced removal of about 40,000 residents of those fields, in violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
Brazil underlines the importance that the United Nations Assistance Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (Unrwa) can maintain its activities in the Jenin, Tulkarm and Nur al-Shams refugee camps in northern West Bank, in Benefit of the refugee population.
Remembering the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice of July 19, 2024, which considered the Israeli presence in the occupied Palestinian territory, Brazil is completely suspending its military operations in the West Bank.
