United States President Donald Trump rejected the conditions presented by Iran for the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened. The American refusal occurred this Saturday (26), during the United Nations General Assembly, in New York.
Trump considered the proposal “unacceptable”. The Iranian government called for the unblocking of Iranian ports, the unfreezing of the country’s resources and a ceasefire on all fronts, including an end to Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon. With this, Iran would agree to re-discuss its nuclear program within seven days and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The information is from the newspaper The Guardian.
The Iranian government claims that the reopening of the strait is conditional on compliance with its demands. In statements reproduced by the state agency IRNA, Araghchi said that the conditions had been presented to mediators who maintain contact with Washington, but that Tehran had not yet received a formal response through these channels.
“We have not closed the door to negotiations,” said the chancellor, according to IRNA. At the same time, Araghchi said that Iran will not give up its rights and that it will await a definitive position from the United States before deciding the next steps.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said, according to The Guardian ea Al Jazeerawhich Iran remains willing to negotiate, but has lost trust in the United States after past experiences. In a statement cited by the British newspaper, Pezeshkian stated that Tehran has not left the negotiating table, but that it does not accept negotiations under “intimidation or coercion”.

Iran maintains the blockade of the passage, while the United States has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports, according to information gathered by agencies and international vehicles.
Military tension also continues. AFP reported that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have captured an American unmanned underwater vehicle in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the Iranian force, the equipment was being used for espionage. The statement was published by Iranian state television.
