
President says the US will follow “very closely” when the country is ready to vote
The President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican Party), stated this Friday (24.Jul.2026) that Venezuela “not ready” to hold elections. At the same time, he praised what he called “great progress” of the country under the management of the interim president Delcy Rodriguez (PSUV, left). The statement was made in a conversation with journalists at the White House.
The interim president has been in power since January, when US forces captured the Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro (PSUV, left).
“As for the elections in Venezuela, they’re not really ready for them yet, but wow, there’s been a lot of progress. Delcy has done a fantastic job”Trump said. The Republican president added that when the country is ready to vote, it will be “following everything very closely”.
O judgment of Maduro and his wife, Cília Floreshas been set for June 1, 2027 in New York. The decision was made on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) by federal judge Alvin Hellerstein.
Both have been detained in a federal unit in Brooklyn since January 3, 2026, when the United States carried out an military operation in Venezuela to capture them and take them to the country to face charges.
ELECTIONS IN VENEZUELA
On Friday (Jul 17), Trump stated in a speech that the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) identified a plan by the Maduro government to manipulate votes in its favor in the country’s elections. “There was a specific plot to greatly favor the corrupt Venezuelan regime”he declared.
The statement was accompanied by the release of agency documents by order of the US president. Records indicate that Chavismo had, since 2012, mechanisms to change up to 1.5 million votes. The documents themselves, however, do not prove that fraud occurred in all elections in the country.
