An immediate ceasefire was announced on Saturday (10) by India and Pakistan. The historical conflict between the countries involves the dispute of the Caixemira region and won a new chapter in late April, inflammating tensions. The UN and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brazil welcomed the truce, but there are accusations of those involved in disrespect to what was agreed.
The intermediation for the break in aggression is claimed by the United States, a situation not credited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, which indicated that negotiation occurred directly between Islamabad and Nova Delhi.
UN Secretary-General AntĂłnio Guterres, in a statement released, indicated that ceasefire is a positive step in ending the aggressions and expects: “Contribute to a lasting peace and promote an environment conducive to addressing broader and older questions between the two countries.”

Itamaraty understands that the “decision represents a positive step towards the construction of mutual confidence and the reduction of tensions in the region” (see the full note at the end).
Despite the agreement, the countries have changed accusations of disrespect to the Armistice. But the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq to give, stressed that his country maintains the ceasefire, an action combined with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, headed by S. Jaishankar.
Both must speak again on Monday (12).
Conflict return
The aggressions increased after 26 tourists were killed in the Indian territory of Jammu and Caxemira, on April 22, by the “Resistance of Caxemira-Trf” group, for which Indians accuse pakistani of support, who deny.
After that the tension was expanded on the border and Indians began to perform military maneuvers with missile tests by their navy.
Already on April 7, India attacked what he classified as “terrorist infrastructure” in Pakistan. Since then there has been exchange of missiles and drones in the conflict region. The growing military climb has already made dozens of new victims on both sides.
The world follows the conflict with extreme attention, as countries are nuclear power. It is estimated in 180 nuclear warheads in possession of Indians, while Pakistani has about 170. Advance to the conflict could throw the planet into a nuclear war.
Since 1947, when the mountainous region of Caxemira has been divided the conflict persists. The division occurred when countries became independent of the United Kingdom, however political interests and religious divisions remained in the complex configuration of the territories.
The abrupt form that was made the division opposed Muslim, on the side of Pakistan, with the Hindus, India, not without promoting a gigantic forced exodus and generating violent episodes.
Thus, the region of conflict in Caxemira is marked by dispute, since half of the territory is on the Indian side, but most of the population is Muslim.
Between 1947 and 1949 there was the First Indo-Paquistani War by the region’s dispute, a situation that was repeated in 1965 and in 1999, the latter’s conflict of Cargil. There was still the opposition of the countries in 1971 because of Bangladesh’s independence, then East Pakistan.
