US President tells Fox News that attacks will continue until Tehran resumes negotiations
The President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican Party), threatened this Tuesday (14.Jul.2026) to expand attacks against Iran and target power plants and bridges if the Iranian government does not resume negotiations with Washington.
“We’re going to hit them really hard tonight. We’re going to hit them really hard tomorrow night. We’re going to hit them really hard the night after.”declared in an interview with journalist Trey Yingst, from Fox News.
According to Trump, the bombings will continue until he determines that the offensive was sufficient. The president declared that Iranian infrastructure targets will be hit next week if there is no agreement.
“Next week, the situation will get very bad for them, because it will be the turn of the plants and the bridges. We are going to tear down all the plants and all the bridges, unless they sit down at the table and negotiate.”said the North American.
Trump stated that energy-related targets will be left for the final stage of the offensive. He also said he had ordered oil installations on Kharg Island to be spared because of the possible effects on the world economy. The Republican, however, declared that this orientation could change.
Asked about a possible ground operation, Trump did not rule out the measure. “Sometimes it takes a land campaign. But we have other people who will do the land campaign for us”he stated, without giving details.
The United States began a new round of attacks against Iran on Tuesday (July 14), on the 4th consecutive day of operations. Washington also resumed the naval blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas. More than 20 US warships and hundreds of military aircraft are in the region.
Trump stated that US representatives had spoken with Iranian negotiators about an hour before the interview. According to him, Tehran shows interest in an agreement, but backtracks after making commitments.
“You better make a deal. We are being very careful with the civilian population, but you will have nothing left.”he stated.
Despite saying that US military objectives have already been met, Trump declared that Iran still retains some capacity to react. He compared the country to a boxer who strikes again when he appears defeated.
The president also stated that the US monitors movements at another Iranian nuclear facility. He said the place could be bombed “in a matter of minutes” if Washington identifies the resumption of activities.
The escalation comes after Iranian attacks on vessels and military installations in the region. Kuwait stated that a Navy ship was hit and that 4 soldiers were injured. The country also declared that it had intercepted missiles and 33 drones sent against civilian areas and structures considered vital.
In the same interview, Trump confirmed that he had given up on charging a 20% tax on cargo transported by ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The plan will be replaced, according to him, by trade agreements and investments from Gulf countries in the United States. The blockade against Iranian vessels and cargo was maintained.
