Petrochemical complex in Marvdasht was hit

In an explosive post on the network he owns, Truth Social, this Tuesday (7), US President Donald Trump provoked the escalation of the war against Iran to a genocidal level, declaring that “an entire civilization will die tonight, never to return” if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 9 pm (Brasília time). The threat, which foresees the total destruction of Iranian bridges, power plants and civilian infrastructure, constitutes an explicit war crime, with a deadline running out in a few hours.

Apocalyptic rhetoric and imperialist ultimatum

Trump didn’t mince words: “I don’t want this to happen, but it probably will,” he wrote, predicting a “complete regime change” with “different, smarter, less radicalized minds.” After the post, even before the end of the ultimatum, US and Israeli attacks followed on petrochemical complexes in Assaluyeh, Mahshahr and Marvdasht – responsible for half of Iranian production –, in addition to the island of Kharg, a vital distributor of oil. Hours before the deadline, Trump called the moment “one of the most important in the history of the world”, after downplaying the Strait for the US and then promising its “complete demolition”.

This escalation on the 39th day of conflict comes after the US and Israel bombed universities, desalination plants and petrochemical plants, under the pretext of reopening the route that Iran blocked with tolls of US$2 million per ship, sending global oil prices soaring.

War crime in sight: civilian targets in the crosshairs

The threat to destroy “all bridges and power plants” in Iran flagrantly violates international humanitarian law, hitting infrastructure essential to civilian survival – equivalent to a genocidal siege. Trump had already posted on Easter Sunday: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day all in one, in Iran. Open the F****** Straits, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell – WATCH! Praise be to Allah.” Such rhetoric, reported by Al Jazeera and NYT, exposes the terrorist nature of the Yankee-Israeli offensive.

In a new wave of Israeli bombings, it hit strategic infrastructure targets in Iran such as railways. Not even the Rafi Niya Synagoguelocated in central Tehran, was spared. According to reports from the state agency IRNA and confirmations from leaders of the local Jewish community, the temple suffered severe damage, with Torah scrolls and sacred objects buried under the rubble.

The Iranian government reacts immediately. The Islamic Revolutionary Guardian Corps (IRGC) promises to cut off energy supplies to the US and allies “for years” if civilians are targeted, while Vice Chancellor Kazem Gharibabadi denounced imminent “war crimes”. President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that he is ready to die for the homeland, with 14 million Iranian volunteers – according to official records from the Basij and popular militias – and with civilians surrounding petrochemical and electrical plants for human protection against bombings. Tehran has increased missile strikes against Israel and other Gulf targets, maintaining the blockade and warning of “devastating responses” across borders. Iranian embassies mocked the threats with the North American expression: “Get a grip”, which in a free translation into Brazil would be “Get real”.

Western media

While BBC and NYT label Trump’s language as “an authoritarian outburst,” Fox News applauds the threat as a “stern warning.” Al Jazeera highlights Iranian rejection, exposing the pro-genocide bias of media outlets like CNN, accused of ignoring Yankee-Israeli crimes.
