With acts performed simultaneously from Ushuaia to La Quiaca, Argentine Peronism began the campaign “Argentina Con Cristina”, a federal mobilization organized by the National Justicialist Party with support from parties, unions and social movements. The main flag is the denunciation of the political proscription of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, former president and central figure of the progressive field’s electoral strategy.
While there are still no definitions of the list of elections on September 7, the top deputy Kirchner traveled a quiet Villa in Avellaneda, accompanied by provincial Senator Emmanuel Santalla. “Let’s go forward, people for people, meter per meter,” said Máximo. “So that in 2027 we can rebuild an Argentine that embraces us to all.”
Kicillof pressures for prominence na province
In parallel to the national mobilization, the Right Future Movement (MDF), led by Governor Axel Kicillof, who tries to assert herself as a candidate for Peronism, held plenary sessions in different regions of Buenos Aires province. From Santa Clara, Minister Carlos Bianco – the governor’s right -hand man – returned to demand respect for Kicillof’s political driving, and warned: “If there is no agreement, we can go out with its own list.”
Bianco drew three possible scenarios: full unit, joint lists with proportionality or, in the worst hypothesis, breakdown and separate candidacies, which, according to him, would facilitate the advance of President Javier Milei. “With Peronism divided, we handed the ball to the chainsaw,” he warned.
Otherm tries to appease, but scenario is uncertainty
Responsible for intermediating dialogues between Kicillof and Máximo Kirchner, the mayor of Lomas de Zamora, Federico Otermín, sought to calm his spirits. “Everything that is happening is positive. Until July 19, a lot of paint will run, but we will arrive together with a good port,” he said. Behind the scenes, however, the distrust between the groups grows.
The difficulty in setting the plate heads in the eight electoral sections of the province is one of the main obstacles. The third section, where about 5 million voters are concentrated, became a focus on tension: even though it was a name quoted, maximum Kirchner would be reluctant to run there, and the sector linked to Kicillof would not commit to campaigning for him. “Cristina solved this problem,” acknowledged a PJ leader.
Leadership dispute opposes “pencil” the unit
The main divergence revolves around the political leadership of the electoral process. For Kicillof’s allies, he, as governor, must command the process in the province. “Its role goes beyond the institutional function. Axel must conduct the strategy,” said Morón Mayor Lucas Ghi. Already sectors linked to the national PJ maintain that Cristina, Máximo and Sergio Massa also have legitimacy to define the directions of Peronism.
Through social networks, former Mayor Paco Durañona mocked Bianco’s stance: “Sin Christar ‘, grouping conducted by Axel and his alter ego Bianco in the search for consensus” has consolidated.
Alert Pasta: “Either it is Peronism or it is Milei”
The renewing front, led by Sergio Massa, has already delegated to the former economy minister the task of defining the names on the lists. Given the possibility of breaking, mass was clear: “If there is no unity, let’s go alone.” According to an articulator, the idea is to launch Juan Andreotti to the Senate by the first section and use projection figures to dispute other regions.
Still, Massa reminded the more than 200 FR congressmen: “Unity is built with generosity. There is no room for petty. Either Peronism or Milei.”
State Congress will be decisive
While the backstage boils with meetings and joints, the PJ Congress of the Province of Buenos Aires, scheduled for Saturday, July 5, in Merlo, must be the key moment to define alliances and seal (or not) unity. Chaired by Fernando Espinosa, the meeting can consolidate a unique plate – or confirm the crack.
With Cristina as a symbolic center, the challenge now is finding the political formula that unites the territory and prevents the internal dispute from the way to the right.
