Ingredients
1 cup white or brown rice
2 cups hot water
1 tablespoon of oil or olive oil
1 clove of minced garlic
1/2 chopped onion
1 bunch of broccoli (flowers only)
Salt to taste
Black pepper (optional)
Directions
- Wash the broccoli well and separate the florets into small pieces. Cook the broccoli in boiling water with a pinch of salt for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In a pan, heat the oil or olive oil and sauté the garlic and onion until golden.
- Add the rice and stir well for 1 to 2 minutes so that the grains are coated in the seasoning.
- Add 2 cups of hot water and adjust the salt. Cook over low heat, with the pan half covered, until the water evaporates (approximately 15 minutes).
- When the rice is ready, turn off the heat and gently stir in the cooked broccoli pieces.
- If desired, finish with black pepper to taste.
- Serve hot as a side dish or main course.
