It is ideal to accompany meat, poultry or fish, as well as being a great alternative to enhance your everyday menu.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white or brown rice

  • 2 cups hot water

  • 1 tablespoon of oil or olive oil

  • 1 clove of minced garlic

  • 1/2 chopped onion

  • 1 bunch of broccoli (flowers only)

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper (optional)

Directions

  • Wash the broccoli well and separate the florets into small pieces. Cook the broccoli in boiling water with a pinch of salt for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • In a pan, heat the oil or olive oil and sauté the garlic and onion until golden.
  • Add the rice and stir well for 1 to 2 minutes so that the grains are coated in the seasoning.
  • Add 2 cups of hot water and adjust the salt. Cook over low heat, with the pan half covered, until the water evaporates (approximately 15 minutes).
  • When the rice is ready, turn off the heat and gently stir in the cooked broccoli pieces.
  • If desired, finish with black pepper to taste.
  • Serve hot as a side dish or main course.
