Ingredients

  • 500g meat (usually filet mignon, rump or other tender meat), cut into thin strips

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons of butter

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 200g sliced ​​mushrooms (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon of ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon mustard

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

  • 1/2 cup of cream

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Straw potatoes or white rice to serve (optional)

Directions

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter with the oil over medium-high heat. 
    Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until golden.
  • Add the cut meat to the pan and cook until it is well browned on the outside, stirring occasionally. 
    Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • If using mushrooms, add them to the pan and sauté for a few more minutes until they are soft.
  • Add the ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce to the pan, mix well and let it cook for a few more minutes.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and add cream. 
    Cook for a few more minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce is heated through and blended.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if necessary.
  • Serve the Stroganoff with straw potatoes or white rice, if desired.
