For your Béchamel White Sauce to be very creamy and tasty, use the ingredients listed below and follow the step-by-step preparation instructions.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of butter

  • 2 tablespoons wheat flour

  • 2 cups of milk

  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Directions

  • Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add the flour and stir well until it forms a paste.
  • Cook the paste for about a minute, stirring constantly.
  • This will help cook the flour and eliminate the raw flour taste.
  • Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  • Cook the sauce for about 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and becomes creamy.
  • Add nutmeg and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Shake well.
  • Remove from heat and use immediately.
  • This sauce makes a great base for other sauces like cheese sauce or spinach sauce.
