Ingredients

  • 1 cup of ketchup

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons molasses

  • 1 tablespoon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (you can adjust the amount according to your taste)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional, for smoky flavor)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

  • In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add onion powder and garlic powder, stirring for about 1 minute until aromatic.
  • Add the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the pan.
Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  • Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
  • If you want to add a smoky touch to the sauce, add the liquid smoke at this point.
Stir well to incorporate the smoked flavor.
  • Remove the barbecue sauce from the heat and let it cool slightly.
  • Use barbecue sauce immediately as a topping for grilled meat, ribs, chicken or as a dipping sauce.
You can also store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a few weeks.
