According to projections from the BBC, the center-left party led by Keir Starmer is expected to win 410 of the 650 seats.

Exit poll released by BBC News indicates a landslide victory for the centre-left Labour Party in the British Parliamentary elections this Thursday (4 July 2024). The party led by Keir Starme is expected to win 410 of the 650 seats in the House of Commons. The Conservatives are expected to win 131. To have a majority, 326 seats were needed.

Projections also indicate that the Liberal Democrats are expected to win 61 seats. The more right-wing Reform UK (formerly the Brexit Party) has 13 seats in Parliament, according to the BBC. Other smaller parties, such as the Scottish National Party, would have 10 seats.

If the result is confirmed, Starmer, 61, will be the new prime minister. He has been a member of Parliament since 2015 and has led the Labour Party since 2020, having been leader of the Opposition during the governments of Boris Johnson (2019-2022), Liss Truss (2022) and Rishi Sunak (2022-present) – all from the Conservative Party.
