Russia vehemently denied the accusations made by US President Donald Trump, who stated that Moscow had interfered in the US elections in 2020. The statement was made by Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, this Friday (17).

“We reject all accusations, we reject them vehemently: Russia has never interfered in anyone’s internal affairs. And we hope that no one will try to interfere in our internal affairs,” Peskov told reporters.

Last Thursday (16), in a speech to the nation, Donald Trump warned about vulnerabilities in his country’s electoral system, mentioning documents in which Russia appears on a list of countries that allegedly could have invaded the US electoral infrastructure in 2020.

Trump claimed that Russia is among the “adversaries of the United States” who are allegedly trying to influence the country’s elections. He also cited China, saying the Asian country gained unauthorized access to 220 million American voter records in 2020.

“Today, I announce the immediate declassification and public release of critical information that reveals the alarming vulnerability of our voting infrastructure. The declassified data shows that the American election system is “more vulnerable than ever to cyberattacks, abuse and foreign interference,” he said.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian called Trump’s claim about alleged Chinese interference “pure fiction and malicious slander.” According to the diplomat, Washington’s allegations have already been proven to be unfounded, while the US itself regularly interferes in the affairs of other countries.

The spokesperson for the Russian presidency, in turn, recalled that investigations carried out previously by several US bodies concluded that there was no Russian interference in the US election.

“The fact is that the president [dos EUA] is citing some information, anonymous information, information without proof, from American intelligence agencies. But let’s remember that several investigations, inquiries and so on were conducted in the USA. They all concluded that Russia in no way influenced the US”, highlighted Peskov.

The Kremlin spokesman reinforced that all these conclusions were not made by Russian security agencies or investigative bodies, but only by the US. According to him, these investigations included parliamentary committees, the Attorney General’s Office, among other bodies. “Everyone came to the same conclusion: there was no influence,” added the spokesperson.
