Permanent collegiate announced by minister Guilherme Boulos in June still has no launch date
The Federal Government postponed the creation of Conpeb (National Council for Brazilian Foreign Policy). The proposal is discussed with civil society, but there is still no scheduled date for launch, according to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic.
The reason for the suspension is the electoral closure period, according to the Poder360. Initiated on Saturday (Jul 4, 2026), the rule imposes restrictions on the actions of public agents and bodies. The objective is to guarantee equal opportunities between candidates and avoid the use of the public machine for electoral purposes.
The launch of the permanent collegiate body was scheduled for this week. The body will be focused on the participation of civil society in the formulation of the country’s foreign policy.
The creation of Conpeb was announced in June 2026 by the minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Guilherme Boulos (Psol). The minister stated that the topic of foreign policy needs to be debated to combat a “stance of surrender and betrayal of the Bolsonarists to the homeland“.
“It is a decisive theme for the dispute that Brazil will have this year. Therefore, I am pleased to return to this proposal. In other words, create a space so that civil society, based on its different manifestations, can participate in the foreign policy debate in Brazil”, declared Boulos.
