Attack in Kryvyi Rih left 22 children injured; Zelenskiy promised to respond to what he called the act “inhumane”
At least 16 people died and more than 130 were injured on Friday (21.Aug.2026) after Russian drones hit a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, in central Ukraine, according to Reuters.
A second drone hit the mall around 30 minutes after the first impact, when emergency teams were already working at the location. Volodymyr Zelensky (Servant of the People, center) stated in X that the attack was “absolutely inhumane” and said that Ukraine will respond.
Other attacks
Also on Friday (21.Aug.2026), a Russian drone attack killed at least 4 people in the Mykolaiv region, in southern Ukraine. Among the dead were 3 children. One woman was injured, according to Ukrainian state media.
The strikes were carried out as Russia steps up air offensives against Ukraine. On Thursday (Aug. 20, 2026), a Russian ballistic missile attack killed 17 people in Kyiv, the country’s capital.
Ukraine has also increased attacks on Russian territory, with actions against oil installations and logistical infrastructure to try to reduce Moscow’s ability to wage war.
