The Israeli Army launched new airstrikes in southern Lebanon this Sunday (5), amid a fragile ceasefire agreement reached between Tel Aviv and Beirut.

In this sense, Hezbollah parliamentarian Hassan Fadlallah harshly criticized the US-backed pact signed between the Lebanese government and Israel, claiming that it lacks “any constitutional, legal or national validity”.

He stated that the agreement consolidates the continuity of the Israeli occupation, prevents international legal proceedings against Israel and does not include a single clause that serves Lebanon’s interests.

The parliamentarian emphasized that the Islamic Resistance would not allow the implementation of the pact and declared that “the resistance will remain and will continue to operate”, while also calling on the Lebanese authorities to respect the State’s right to self-defense.

The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported attacks in the regions of Al-Tayri in the district of Bint Jbeil, Qantara, Al-Hariq Quarter between Kfar Tebnit and Nabatieh, al-Fawqa and Al-Mansouri. In addition to helicopter fire over Majdal Zoun in the Tire district and artillery shelling towards Deir Siryan in the Marjayoun district, while the canal NBN reported artillery fire towards the municipality of Baraashit, in Nabatieh province.

Helicopter fire and Israeli artillery shelling were reported in southern Lebanon, while President Joseph Aoun told the press that, although he is “not an enthusiast for Israel,” he awaits “any solution or agreement that will take us out of the wars.”

In addition to the day’s attacks, Israeli bombings in Lebanon since March 2 have killed at least 4,304 people and injured 12,203, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
