The interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, presented this Wednesday (29) the Nation’s Defense Plan, a set of guidelines to reorganize the country’s defensive system.

The plan combines military doctrine, integration between security institutions and new strategic structures aimed at protecting national sovereignty. Its actions were announced in Caracas, in an event with the presence of the Bolivarian National Armed Force and representatives of security agencies.,

The announcement establishes a deadline of up to one hundred days for the responsible bodies to present the guidelines for the Nation’s new Defensive System, which should guide the actions of the Armed Forces, security organizations and other institutions involved in defense policy.

According to the government, the objective is to update the State’s defensive structure in the face of new scenarios and challenges, with greater coordination between different levels of action.

The presentation of the plan takes place in the context of the institutional crisis that opened in early January, following the United States military offensive that resulted in the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro.

Since then, the interim government has started to reorganize areas considered strategic for the preservation of governability and national sovereignty, including the defense sector.

Within this redesign, the Nation’s Defense Plan foresees the strengthening of civic-military-police coordination, integrating the Armed Forces, security agencies and other instances of the State into the same defensive architecture.

The proposal seeks to standardize procedures, define responsibilities and expand institutional response capacity in situations of instability.

New digital defense and protection structures

As part of the plan’s developments, Delcy Rodríguez also announced this Wednesday (29) the creation of the National Office for Defense and Cybersecurity, responsible for coordinating actions aimed at protecting the country’s digital space.

The new structure should work together with the scientific-technological sector and security institutions, focusing on the development of specific capabilities for the defense of digital infrastructures considered strategic.

The plan also includes measures aimed at the internal reorganization of the Armed Forces and security organizations, with the relaunch of programs aimed at meeting social demands in the military and police ranks.

According to the government, the initiative seeks to restore the operating conditions of these institutions in a scenario marked by external pressures and economic restrictions.
