On May 9, we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II on European soil. Moscow is the host of the largest event alluding to this date. On the other hand, this human catastrophe was worldwide, with China being the great stage of the atrocities committed by Japanese militarism. There were 35 million Chinese killed or injured in this war of occupation and looting. Therefore, the time has come to discuss the real meaning of the struggle for world peace in depth.

China, an ancient civilization and characterized by an intense culture of peace, has developed tolerant and civilizing philosophies. It has never been an expansionist, colonialist or imperialist country. It is a case of development without the need to occupy countries and punish other peoples. XI Jinping has recurrently used numerous opportunities to demonstrate that the struggle for world peace depends on the search for the common development of all peoples, the end of any hegemonism in the military field and coexistence and learning between different civilizations. Also the reminder of the Chinese martyrs listed in battle against the barbarism of war is a way of not only recalling the past, but also of building a shared future community.

In his speech on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese people’s resistance war against Japanese aggression and the world anti -fascist war, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out: “For peace, we must reinforce the conscience of a community of shared future. Prejudice, discrimination, hatred and war provoke only disasters and anguish, while mutual respect, equality, peaceful development and prosperity. constitute a correct path that everyone should follow. ”

This is not an empty pronouncement, but something full of meaning before a world surrounded by uncertainty, instability and possibility of great conflicts. China, through its president, has drawn attention to observing the story at this time, when militarization re -gains reactionary strength and ideologies, which try to impose the will of the strong on the weak, gain intensity. Awareness of a shared future community has become a theoretical and philosophical body created by Xi Jinping as a response to contemporary challenges, in which peace, development, and climate crisis become the great themes of our historical time.

As already exposed above, China is a fundamental example of a country that has its development process based on its own strength, without the need to occupy or punish other peoples. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Chinese victory over Japanese militarism, Chinese president reiterated this commitment: “For peace, China will unshakably follow the path of peaceful development. The Chinese nation has always been a peace lover.

No matter what level its development reaches, China will never seek hegemony or practice expansionism and never impose its tragic experience to other nations. The Chinese people will maintain friendly relations with all the other peoples of the world and firmly defend the fruits of victory in the Chinese people’s resistance war against Japanese aggression and victory in the anti -fascist war, making new and even greater contributions to humanity. ”

We can do an interesting historical exercise and underline that the recognition of the Popular Republic of China as the legitimate representative of the Chinese people, as well as their admission to the United Nations in 1971, have been part of an effort to world peace by numerous countries, since the Korea War that expanded the attempt to isolation of the Popular Republic of China by the United States and its allies. On the other hand, numerous countries of what we call “global south” today were recognizing, one by one, Beijing like the capital of all over China. It is irresistible not to relate these events to the struggle for justice and effective democracy in international relations. Xi Jinping in a commemorative speech for the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the Legitimate Seat of the Popular Republic of China in the UN remembered everyone: “The restoration of the legitimate seat of the Popular Republic of China in the UN was a great event for both the world and the UN. It resulted from the joint efforts of all countries lovers and the return of the Chinese people, a quarter of the UN population, on stage, on stage, on stage, on stage, on stage, on stage, on stage, on stage, on stage, on stage, being of great importance and long -range influence for China and the whole world. ”

The story is as interesting as relentless. Currently the countries that have used the UN to inflict losses to China are the same ones that today completely distort the principles of the UN Charter and destroy any possibility of a multipolar world, marked by multilateralism. The fate wanted the People’s Republic of China – permitted late to the UN – was the main force today in the struggle for the resumption of the UN protagonism in the defense of peace and multilateralism. XI Jinping It was necessary to state that: “International rules can only be done jointly by the 193 UN-member countries, rather than decided by some individual country or some block of countries. International rules must be fulfilled by all 193 UN-member countries; there should be no exception. All countries must respect the UN, take care of this large family and protect it. Discard it when it does not meet our interests; we must ensure that it plays a more active role in the noble cause of promoting peace and the development of humanity. China is ready to work with other countries based on ‘extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits’, explore new ideas and models of cooperation and continually enrich the practice of multilateralism under new circumstances. ”
