Man died after being run over in Florida after trying to flee from federal agents in the city of St. Augustine
The United States recorded on Tuesday (14.Jul.2026) the 3rd death related to immigration operations in a week. A man died after being struck by a truck while fleeing from federal agents during a traffic stop in St. Augustine, Florida, according to the newspaper The Guardian.
Agents from HSI (Homeland Security Investigators), a division of ICE (Immigration and Customs Service), approached 4 men in a vehicle parked near a convenience store. During the escape, one of them ran onto an avenue and was hit by a truck. The victim died at the scene. The man was 28 years old and Mexican. The identity was not disclosed.
The case was registered days after two other deaths involving immigration agents. On Monday (July 13, 2026), an ICE agent shot and killed Colombian Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, aged 26, during an arrest attempt. The previous week, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was also shot and killed by ICE agents during a raid in Texas.
In a note sent to the press, DHS (Department of Homeland Security) confirmed the operation and reported that the case is investigated by HSI and the Florida Highway Patrol. The agency stated that it will release new information when the investigation is completed.
“On July 14, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) law enforcement officers conducted an operation near St. Johns, Florida. The Florida Highway Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) are investigating an incident that resulted in the death of a Mexican national,” a spokesperson said. “We will provide updates as they become available.”
Authorities have not yet said whether the man who was run over was the target of the operation nor have they clarified what happened to the other 3 occupants of the vehicle. The incident was recorded about 56 km south of Jacksonville.
