The band The Strokes published a message of support for the president and candidate for re-election, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), on their social networks. The post, shared this Wednesday (14), displays a montage made from an old photograph of Lula speaking to a crowd. In place of the sky, a red star was inserted. Look:

The post does not include text. The president’s official profile, however, responded, mixing Brazilian and English words: “Companions of @thestrokes, the Brazilian people know what side we are standing on… We are on the side of democracy, workers and hope. Let’s go, people!” The phrase is a reference to the song “Oblivius”, which was also part of the Instagram post.

Other international artists also demonstrated support for Lula’s re-election. American guitarist Tom Morello, from Rage Against the Machine, even published a video in support of harsh criticism of fascism and the power of large corporations.

The Strokes have a show scheduled in Brazil, at the Primavera Sound festival, in December. Its history in the country brings together participation in different festivals. Furthermore, the drummer, Fabrizio Moretti, was born in Rio de Janeiro and has lived in the United States since childhood.
