The Port of Gaolan (Zhuhai), in southern China, now has a direct sea connection with the ports of Santana (AP) and Salvador (BA), in Brazil. The opening ceremony of the new international route was held on Monday (14), in Brasilia.
The event was attended by the Zhuhai Municipal Popular Government, China’s Embassy in Brazil, Brazilian Government and the Brazil-China Parliamentary Group of the Chamber of Deputies.
There was a countdown with images of a freighter dectacing from the port of Gaolan to Brazil.

“This will greatly help trade between the two countries and has great meaning because we are implementing the agreements between the two presidents [Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva e Xi Jinping] Made on our president’s visit to Brazil last year, ”said Chinese ambassador to Brazil, Zhu Qingqiao
According to him, it is an initiative that reinforces the Brazilian strategy of development, especially in the face of the new global context with the so-called tariff wars.
“This causes great confusion in international trade, because it clearly violates the rules. China and Brazil are two positive forces for stability and prosperity in the world. And we will continue to expand and deepen cooperation,” said the ambassador.
“We are inaugurating the first direct sea route from China to Brazil. And look where this ship will end: Salvador. It is a very special moment, exactly in this circumstance when they are trying to separate the world. Brazil and China are integrating to integrate into the world, increasing business relations. It is a great time for China, Brazil and those who believe in a multipolar world,” said Deputy Daniel Almeida (PCdoB-BA) Parliamentary Brazil-China.
Secretary Dino Antunes Dias Baptista, who represented the Minister of Ports and Airports. Silvio Costa Filho said the inaugurated route is critical to trade between the two countries and a demonstration to the world, ie “more trade and less barriers”.
The biggest advantage of the new route is the reduction of transportation time within 30 days and logistics costs by over 30%.
The ships will depart from southern China, and will directly cross the narrow of Malaca and Cabo da Boa Esperança to the port of Santana (first stop) and to the port of Salvador (final destination), reaching the economic zone of Brazil directly.
