Ingredients

  • 2 cups of wheat flour

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 1/2 cup warm water

  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

Directions

  • In a large bowl, mix the wheat flour and salt.
  • Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the warm water and oil.
  • With clean hands, start mixing the ingredients, gradually incorporating the flour until a homogeneous dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour; if it’s too dry, add a little more water, a teaspoon at a time.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until it is elastic and smooth.
  • Form the dough into a ball and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  • After resting, divide the dough into smaller portions and roll each one out on a floured surface, using a rolling pin, until it is thin but still strong enough to hold the filling.
  • Place the filling of your choice in the center of each piece of dough and fold it in half, pressing the edges with your fingers to seal.
  • Fry in hot oil until they are golden and crispy.
  • Remove the pastries from the pan and place them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
