An oil tanker exploded after colliding with a sea mine in the Strait of Hormuz this Sunday (Jul 26). The information was released by news agencies More e Tasnimbased in Iran and linked to the country’s government.
According to the Iranian press, the ship deviated from the route defined by the Iranian government. The name, flag and exact location of the tanker were not disclosed. There is also no information about victims, oil spills or the extent of the damage.
The aforementioned route is a corridor in the northern part of the Strait of Hormuz. The Revolutionary Guard determines that ships use the routes indicated by the country and coordinate the crossing via an official maritime radio channel. Iran considers the southernmost route, close to Oman, monitored by the United States, dangerous.

The incident occurs on the 2nd consecutive day without attacks by the United States against Iranian territory and without retaliatory actions by Tehran.
