Exports of new energy vehicles (NEVs) rose 110% in China in the first 8 months of 2023, amid the sector’s rapid expansion.

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, 727,000 NEVs were exported during the period.

Exports of pure electric vehicles increased 120% compared to the same period last year, to 665 thousand units, and those of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles rose 73.5%, to 62 thousand units, the entity reported.

China’s automobile exports totaled 2.94 million units from January to August, an annual increase of 61.9%. Exports of passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles increased annually by 69.8% and 31.1%, respectively.
