There is no date yet; letter said that speech would be to “develop the lasting relationship and highlight solidarity”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted an invitation to speak to the US Congress after both the House and Senate invited him on Friday (May 31, 2024). There is still no firm date for the speech.

“I am deeply moved to have the privilege of representing Israel before both Houses of Congress and to present the truth about our just war against those who seek to destroy us to representatives of the American people and around the world.”said Netanyahu.

The invitation to Netanyahu was signed by US House Republican Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

“To build on our lasting relationship and highlight U.S. solidarity with Israel, we invite you to share the Israeli government’s vision to defend democracy, combat terrorism, and establish a just and lasting peace in the region.”said the invitation.


By sharing the image of the invitation from the US Congress, Netanyahu’s office said that the Israeli prime minister will be the first leader of a country to speak in both Houses of the US Congress for the 4th time
