Ingredients
500g ground meat (can be beef, pork, chicken or a mix)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 can of tomato sauce (400g)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of wheat flour
500 ml of milk
Salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste
250g lasagne noodles (pre-cooked if possible)
250g grated mozzarella cheese
100g grated parmesan cheese
Directions
- Start by preparing the meat sauce.
In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and sauté the onion and garlic until golden. - Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until it is completely browned and cooked through.
Be sure to break the meat into small pieces with a wooden spoon as it cooks. - Add tomato sauce, oregano, salt and pepper to the meat sauce.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and set aside. - Prepare the béchamel sauce.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the wheat flour and stir constantly for 1-2 minutes until the mixture turns golden. - Gradually add the milk to the butter and flour mixture, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
Cook until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. - Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Now it’s time to assemble the lasagna.
On a baking sheet, start with a thin layer of meat sauce. - Then add a layer of lasagna pasta, followed by a layer of bechamel sauce and a layer of grated mozzarella cheese.
Repeat this process until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of mozzarella cheese on top. - Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the last layer of mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the baking tray with aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until lasagna is bubbly and golden. - Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
This helps to firm up the lasagna and makes cutting easier.
