Ingredients
1 kg of fresh and ripe strawberries
600g refined sugar
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
Directions
- Wash the strawberries under running water and remove the leaves and stalk.Â
Cut them into small pieces. - Place the strawberries in a large pot and add the sugar and lemon juice.Â
Mix well. - Let the mixture rest for about 30 minutes so that the sugar dissolves into the strawberries.
- Place the pan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil.Â
Stir frequently. - Reduce the heat to medium and let the jam cook for about 30 minutes or until it starts to thicken.Â
Stir frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. - To know if the jelly is ready, put a small amount on a cold plate and tilt it.Â
If the jam doesn’t run, it’s ready.Â
If not, cook for a few more minutes and test again. - Turn off the heat and let the jam cool for a few minutes.
- Transfer the jam to sterilized glass jars.Â
Cover tightly and let cool completely before storing in the fridge. - Your homemade strawberry jam is ready!Â
It can be consumed on toast, cakes, yogurt or whatever you prefer.
