Follow the step-by-step preparation method.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of wheat flour

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 1/2 cup chilled butter, cut into cubes

  • 1/4 cup ice water

  • 500g minced meat

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 medium carrot, grated

  • 1/2 cup peas (optional)

  • 1/2 cup corn (optional)

  • 1/2 cup of tomato sauce

  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • In a large bowl, mix the wheat flour and salt.
Add the chilled butter and mix with your fingertips until you get a crumbly texture.
Add the ice water little by little and mix until a homogeneous mass is formed.
  • On a floured surface, open the dough with a rolling pin until it is about 0.5 cm thick.
Line the bottom and sides of a pie pan.
  • In a large pan, heat a little oil or olive oil over medium heat.
Add the onion and garlic and sauté until soft and lightly golden.
  • Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until it is well browned and cooked through.
Season with salt, pepper, cumin powder and paprika powder.
  • Add grated carrots, peas and corn (if using) to the ground beef stir-fry.
  • Cook for a few more minutes until the vegetables are soft.
  • Add the tomato sauce and cook for another 2-3 minutes for the flavors to blend.
  • Transfer the minced meat filling to the mold with the dough.
  • Cover the pie with another layer of dough, sealing the edges well.
Make small cuts in the top to allow steam to escape during cooking.
  • Bake the pie in the preheated oven for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
