In a direct report on the progress of work in the Russian capital, on social media, Nádia Campeão highlighted the breadth of debates and political convergence between the organizations present in the face of contemporary global conflicts. “I participate, on behalf of the PCdoB, in the III International Anti-Fascist Forum, promoted by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and which takes place in Moscow, between the 23rd and 27th of May. More than 80 political parties and organizations from different countries are present. There is a very productive debate on the world reality and a great unity among the participants regarding the condemnation of United States imperialism, the attacks, together with Israel, Palestine and Iran, the offensive in Latin America with the invasion of Venezuela and the threats against Cuba and all US imperialist and terrorist aggressions around the world. Communists in Brazil are associated with all initiatives in defense of peace and against imperialist aggressions.
Organized by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (PCFR), the forum’s official central theme is “The Fight against International Terrorism, Arbitration/Tyranny and Aggression. For Peace and Security”. Debates in the plenary and thematic sessions address the expansion of monopoly capital, financial domination and economic sanctions as tools of neo-colonization. The delegates denounce Russophobia, attacks against national sovereignty in Latin America and the financing of far-right forces in war scenarios, defending the construction of a multipolar order.
The chairman of the CPFR Central Committee and leader of the opposition in the Russian Duma, Gennady Zyuganov, opened the proceedings by emphasizing the common tasks of progressive forces today. “We gathered at the III International Anti-Fascist Forum to discuss our common tasks in the fight for peace and security, friendship between peoples and social justice. This multifaceted activity of left-wing forces cannot be separated from the fight against imperialism and state terrorism, military aggression, neo-colonialism, reaction and neo-fascism”, pointed out the Russian leader. In his intervention, Zyuganov warned of the historical link between the crises of capitalism and the resurgence of authoritarian regimes. “As long as capitalism lives, in its arsenal there will always be fascism, terror, genocide and other bloody crimes”, he asserted. The party leader concluded by calling for the delegations to unite to advance the transition towards a fairer social system: “Together – forward, to achieve the luminous ideals of peace and friendship between peoples, justice, progress and socialism!”
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent an official greeting to the participants this Monday (25). In the message, he highlighted the importance of joining constructive forces to combat xenophobia, neo-Nazism and anti-Semitism, in addition to the need to safeguard the historical truth about the Second World War and seek the consolidation of a multipolar and democratic world.
The meeting counts on the contribution of important political formulations from parties in power and strong global parliamentary action. Among those present were Nomvula Mokonyane, First Deputy General Secretary of the African National Congress (ANC), from South Africa, who spoke about the bonds of international solidarity and justice, and the leaders D. Raja and Rama Krushna Panda, of the Communist Party of India (CPI). Official delegations from communist and progressive parties from China, Cuba, Venezuela, Korea, Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Afghanistan and Iraq also participate in the debates.
The forum seeks to consolidate a broad anti-fascist front to coordinate concrete solidarity actions with populations in militarily or economically attacked territories, demand the release of political prisoners and promote international cooperation forums that oppose Western hegemony. The unified guidelines and manifestos resulting from the meeting will serve as the basis for the struggle of left-wing organizations in the coming months.
