In a statement during the UN Security Council meeting on Sunday (22), China vehemently condemned the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. According to the Chinese ambassador to the UN, Fu Cong, the bombings-held at dawn from Saturday to Sunday by US forces-violate the sovereignty of Iran, violate the United Nations Letter and endanger the global regime of nuclear non-proliferation.
“The acts committed by the United States clearly violate the principles of international law, as well as the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Iran,” said Fu Cong. “These attacks further exacerbate tensions in the Middle East and constitute a hard blow to the international regime of nuclear non -proliferation.”
US action aimed three nuclear power plants – Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan – all under guard from the International Atomic Energy Agency (AIEA). There was no evidence that the country was developing nuclear weapons.

China’s position was not limited to the conviction of the attacks. Ambassador Fu Cong appealed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire on the part of all involved, in particular Israel. “The parties involved should accept international law and curb the use of force. Peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved with bombs, but with dialogue and negotiation,” he said.
Fu recalled that Iran had been negotiating with the United States to ensure its commitment to the Nuclear Weapons Non -Proliferation Treaty (TNP), of which it is a signatory. “The diplomatic means have not yet been exhausted. There is hope of getting a peaceful solution,” he said, urging the UN Security Council to act responsibly in the face of climbing.
China, along with Russia and Pakistan, proposed a resolution project requiring ceasefire, protection to civilians and respect for international law.
Russia: Trump exchanged the speech of peace for war
Russia also harshly condemned US attacks. Dmitri Medvedev, vice president of the Russian Security Council, attacked President Donald Trump, holding him directly by the climb. “Trump, who entered as a pacifying president, started a new war for the US,” he said, mocking, “With this kind of success, Trump will not win the Nobel Peace Prize.”
The Russian government reaffirmed support to Tehran and defended a multilateral diplomatic solution, echoing the Chinese proposal for containment and respect for the TNP.
GLOBAL REACTION: South American convictions to Asia
The US military offensive provoked reactions in various parts of the world. Brazil, through Itamaraty, said that the bombing of nuclear plants is “a serious violation of international law” and warned of the risk of “radioactive contamination and large -scale environmental disasters.” He also reiterated the country’s historical defense for the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Chile was incisive. President Gabriel Boric stated: “Attacking nuclear plants is prohibited by international law. Even if you are the United States.” Cuba and Venezuela also issued repudiation notes, accusing the US of violations of the UN letter.
In Asia, India expressed “deep concern” with regional escalation. The UAE and Qatar warned of the “catastrophic repercussions” of the intensification of the conflict.
Contradictions in the West: between containment and support
In Europe, the reaction was divided. The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, defended regional stability and respect for international law, asking Iran to “return to the negotiating table.” British Prime Minister Keir Strmer supported the US action, claiming that the Iranian nuclear program is “a serious threat to international security.”
France, in turn, reiterated that any solution should occur at the TNP frame and appealed to diplomacy. The position of Western countries, however, contrasts with the historic silence about the Israeli nuclear arsenal – estimated in about 90 atomic, not officially declared onshore.
The UN in the face of the crisis: Guterres warns of catastrophe risk
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made a vehement appeal for containment. “This is a dangerous climbing in a region already by the abyss – a direct threat to peace and international security. There is a growing risk that this conflict quickly leaves control, with catastrophic consequences,” he warned.
Despite the severity, the Security Council is still divided, without consensus to approve a resolution, given the opposition of the United States to any formal conviction.
The world in the face of the nuclear red line
With attacks on nuclear facilities, the war in the Middle East crosses a new border – potentially devastating. China warns of the dismantling of the non -proliferation regime and the risk of standardization of force as an instrument of international policy. While diplomacy tries to act, the world assists the dangerous erosion of multilateral rules in the 21st century.
