The governments of Brazil and Slovakia signed agreements, protocols and memoranda this Tuesday (10), at the Itamaraty Palace, in the areas of defense, economy, diplomacy and security.
“The agreements we signed will bring new opportunities in areas such as defense cooperation, cybersecurity and combating transnational illicit activities,” said Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, who received the Prime Minister of that country, Robert Fico.
The meeting was on the agenda of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who underwent surgery in São Paulo to drain a hematoma on his head and is doing well.

In the press statement, the Prime Minister of Slovakia highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral and regional economic cooperation between Brazil, the European Union and local blocs.
The Brazilian vice-president thanked Slovakia for its support in consolidating the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union.
“It represents much more than an economic and commercial agreement. It symbolizes the rapprochement of two regions capable of influencing global governance and reinforces the commitment of both to multilateral trade and environmental protection regimes”, said the Brazilian.
Among the agreements, Alckmin highlighted Brazil’s contribution to the modernization of the Slovak Air Force through Embraer’s C-390 Millenium aircraft.
“We also signed a protocol to update our agreement to avoid double taxation. In addition to preventing tax evasion, this instrument will offer more security and predictability for bilateral trade and reciprocal investment,” he said.
The vice-president also took the opportunity to thank the prime minister for his country’s membership in the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty.
“This is the main legacy of the Brazilian presidency of the G20”, conveyed Alckmin a message from President Lula.
“We are also grateful for the donation to the victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. We will not forget this act of generosity”, said the vice president.
