Ingredients
500g okra
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Directions
- Wash the okra well and dry them with a clean kitchen towel.
Then cut off the ends of the okra and discard them. - Cut the okra into slices about 1 cm thick.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for a few minutes, until golden and soft.
- Add the okra slices to the skillet and stir gently to mix with the onion and garlic.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and continue cooking over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- The okra is ready when it is soft but still has a slight crunch.
Avoid moving too much so as not to release a lot of drool. - Remove from the heat and serve the braised okra as a side dish with main dishes, such as rice, beans, meat or chicken.
