Deputy is part of the PT delegation in Beijing; Congressman delivered Lula’s letter to Chinese party secretary
The president of the PT, deputy Gleisi Hoffmann, said she wanted to “deepen partnerships” between the Workers’ Party and the CCP (Communist Party of China). The congresswoman is part of the party’s delegation that went to China.
On Wednesday (April 10, 2024), the PT delegation was received by Li Xi, secretary of the CCP. “With the celebration of 40 years of the relationship between the PT and the CCP, we commit to deepening partnerships between the parties”, he wrote Gleisi on X (formerly Twitter).
Gleisi said that the PT members are “willing to collaborate to strengthen exchanges of experiences in party construction and governance, consolidate political relations” between Brazil and China. Yet, “strengthen partnerships, sustainable development in various areas and, jointly, overcome global challenges” that the world faces.
“Marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between our countries, Li reaffirmed China’s commitment to cooperating with Brazil, promoting exchanges and partnerships in different areas and levels, expanding ties of trust between countries”, declared Gleisi.
The PT delegation remains in China until April 20th. On Tuesday (April 9), PT members participated in a seminar in which Gleisi read a letter (in full – 59 kB) from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
