Israel carried out new attacks this weekend against Gaza and southern Lebanon. This Sunday (23), bombings in Gaza caused the death of two people, including a four-year-old boy, identified as Mohamed Abdel Salam Taha, in addition to leaving several injured. The information is from the international news agency AFP.

The attacks take place amid the ceasefire celebrated in October, which did not lead to the interruption of the offensives. Since then, the Gaza Ministry of Health has recorded the deaths of 1,286 people as a result of Israeli attacks.

Also this weekend, the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, intensified attacks against civilian areas in southern Lebanon. The bombings began in the early hours of Saturday (23), in the regions of Ali Al-Taher and Al-Dabsha, near Doha Kfar, on the outskirts of Nabatieh Al-Fawqa.

The operation included the use of fighter planes and drones, which caused fires in agricultural areas, according to local press outlets.

The justification presented by Israel for continuing the attacks is to prevent the Hezbollah group from strengthening. Since March, attacks have killed more than 4,000 people.

A AFrance-Presse agency (AFP) recorded, in photos published on August 21, that tobacco producing families are being forced to leave the region due to the conflicts in southern Lebanon.

International pressure

This Saturday (22), a group of more than 100 former ambassadors and diplomats from the United Kingdom and France published a letter in the French newspaper The World and demanded that international legislation be applied to the Palestinian territory, since both countries recognized the existence of the state of Palestine in 2025. The document classifies Israel’s actions in the region as “ethnic cleansing” and calls for an economic blockade of the country.

Brazil also published a press release classifying the existence of an Israeli notice for the occupation of the Palestinian region of the West Bank as an international violation of human rights.
