Couriers deliver purchases made in stores in Paraguay to Brazil

Correios began this week a land delivery method called Correios Packet, allowing purchases made on store websites in Paraguay to be delivered directly to any address in Brazil.

The Post Office operation, carried out by land, currently includes 2 large retailers in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay: Cellshop and New Zone Importados. The companies are approved by the Federal Revenue Service’s Conform Remittance Program and are authorized to sell their products to the Brazilian market.

Correios Packet allows the import of parcels weighing up to 30 kg, with full tracking and delivery within the same deadlines as national parcels, starting from the Correios International Center in Brazil.

According to Correios, the main advantage for Brazilian consumers, “It is the possibility of purchasing products sold by Paraguayan retailers online and receiving purchases at home, with convenience, security and the reliability of the Correios logistics network”.

For retailers, the new modality expands access to the Brazilian market, contributes to reducing logistics costs and encourages the formalization of operations and tax collection.

TAX

One of the features of Remessa Compliance is the advance payment of taxes. When completing the purchase, the company must inform that it is an imported product and present to the consumer the amounts of taxes charged.

The IRS also provides a calculator to simulate taxation. The result may vary according to the price of the product, the value of shipping and insurance, the quote used and the tax rules applicable to the operation.

Here is the tribute:

• Up to US$50 (product + shipping): the federal Import Tax (II) is 0% (zero), only the state ICMS is applicable, which varies from 17% to 20% depending on the state of destination;
• Above US$50: Import Tax of 60% applies (with a deduction/discount of US$30 on the federal tax amount), in addition to the state ICMS charge.
