Official balance records 16,740 injured, 1,284 aftershocks and almost 18 thousand homeless

The number of deaths from the earthquakes that hit Venezuela on June 24 rose to 4,829, according to a report released by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV, left), on Wednesday (July 15, 2026). The country also records 16,740 injuries and 17,907 homeless people.

In comparison with the previous survey, released on Tuesday (July 14, 2026), the number of deaths increased by 95, an increase of 2%. Totals for injuries, people rescued, homeless and damaged buildings remained unchanged.

There was a reduction from 107 to 106 in the number of temporary camps. The number of people in these locations fell from 20,903 to 20,857, a difference of 46.

Here are the main balance sheet numbers:

  • rescued: 6.462;
  • families served: 128.324;
  • homeless people: 17.907;
  • affected buildings: 856;
  • buildings that collapsed: 190;
  • patients served: 34.872;
  • registered replicas: 1.284.

Authorities reported that 10,063 tons of food and 24.2 million liters of water were distributed. The volume of water exceeds that reported in the previous survey by around 2.5 million liters.

The operation mobilizes 30,989 agents, 31,315 volunteers and 2,408 members of international rescue teams. The government did not detail how many people remain missing.

The 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude tremors were recorded less than 2 minutes apart on June 24. The type of soil in some of the affected regions and the conditions of the buildings contributed to the level of destruction.

Brazil sent 6 aid shipments to Venezuela. The first 5 FAB (Brazilian Air Force) flights transported teams, equipment and supplies. The 6th load carried around 6 tons of vaccines, medicines and other health materials.
