The Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, stated this Tuesday (10) that the country is not participating in the military offensive led by the United States and Israel against Iran and that it “will never participate in it”.

The statement was made during a session in the House of Commons in Ottawa, after days of pressure from the opposition for the government to explain its position regarding the military escalation in the Middle East.

“Canada is not participating in the offensive of the United States and Israel and will never participate in it”, declared the prime minister to parliamentarians.

During the session, the prime minister reiterated that the government’s position is clear and stated that the country “supports the need to prevent Iran’s nuclear program and the export of terrorism.”

Amid the regional crisis, Carney also held diplomatic talks with international leaders.

According to a statement released by the Canadian government office, he discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron the impacts of the war on the global economy and the importance of ensuring safe access through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route for global oil trade.
