On the eighth day of the United States and Israel’s military offensive against Iran, Press TV, Iran’s international news channel, reported that hospitals in Tehran were on the US target list. The brutality of “Operation Epic Fury” hit Gandhi Hospital in central Tehran. The victims were rescued by Iranian Red Crescent teams, who removed newborns from incubators under clouds of dust and debris. The attack also destroyed an advanced in vitro fertilization center, ending the dreams of hundreds of families. A sports complex in Azadi, western Iran, was also destroyed.
In addition to Gandhi, Khatam al-Anbiya and Motahari hospitals were also targets of direct attacks. In the south of the country, Abuzar Hospital, in Ahvaz, had to be evacuated under crossfire. “The record of human rights violated in this war will be written in blood and shame,” said Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour, denouncing what he called an “assault on life itself.”
In Iran, the death toll has reached 1,230 people since February 28, 2026, according to the state agency IRNA cited by CNN Brasil; on the US-Israeli side, there are no confirmed fatal troop casualties, only material losses; in Lebanon, an Iranian ally, 50 deaths were reported by the local Ministry of Health.
Technological casualties: US$300 million radar is destroyed
Despite their military superiority, the aggressors suffered significant losses. Independent sources, including the newspaper The Straits Times and the CNN network, confirmed the destruction of a state-of-the-art AN/TPY-2 radar system at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, in Jordan, on Wednesday (4). The equipment, valued at 300 million dollars, is a central piece of US anti-missile defense in the Gulf.
Simultaneously, the Iranian Navy announced a wave of attacks with kamikaze drones against strategic bases on Thursday (5).
Iranian reports indicate that the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln had moved away from Iran’s maritime zone after being targeted by Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) drones. Although the Pentagon denies damage to the ship, it confirmed the loss of radar in Jordan, highlighting vulnerabilities in the American “protection bubble”.
Crisis of morale and internal resistance in the USA
As Donald Trump demands “unconditional surrender” — a statement made on Friday (6) via Truth Social during a press conference with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth — domestic support for the war declines. Opinion polls, such as Reuters/Ipsos Poll released on Thursday (5), show that only 25% of Americans approve of the attacks, with 56% considering Trump’s use of military force excessive.
More serious for the Pentagon is the situation in the troops: peace activists from ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) — civil anti-war and civil rights protest organization known for large demonstrations against the Iraq War — report that approximately 5,000 soldiers are seeking conscientious objection or legal means to avoid being sent to the frontlines against Iran.
Internal resistance is fueled by the understanding that this is a war not authorized by Congress and motivated by vested geopolitical interests. Congress did not formally authorize the action; Trump has invoked presidential powers (under the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorism Act), but Democrats criticize the lack of specific approval, while Republicans have blocked ceasefire resolutions since last Monday (1st). “We are fed up with endless bloodshed,” declared Yehuda Littmann, one of the protesters who took to the streets in more than 50 US cities.
Interim President Mohammad Mokhber rejected the “unconditional surrender”, in a statement on state TV IRNA, this Saturday (7), calling it “imperialist delusion” and promising “resistance until victory”; Chancellor Abbas Araghchi reinforced in an interview with Reuters: “We will not surrender to ultimatums; we will respond with proportional force.”
The imperialist siege: The bases of aggression
Iran is surrounded by a network of military bases operated by the US in neighboring countries, which serve as a platform for the attacks that began in February (28). The aggression comes from at least seven countries in the region: Jordan (Muwaffaq Salti Base, where the radar was destroyed on 04/03), Qatar (Al-Udeid Base, headquarters of the air command), Kuwait (Ali al-Salem and Arifjan Bases), Bahrain (Al-Jufair Base, headquarters of the Fifth Fleet), United Arab Emirates (Al Dhafra Base), Iraq (facilities in Erbil, Kurdistan Iraq) and Israel (Ovda Air Base, used for the first time with US offensive weapons on Israeli soil since 02/28).
President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated on March 3, 2026 that nations that cede their territory for attacks against Iran will be considered complicit unless they immediately cease support for war logistics from Washington and Tel Aviv.
