The chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (PCFR), Gennady Zyuganov, presented this Tuesday (20) the party’s main guidelines for 2026, focusing on two central tasks: ensuring victory over fascism and changing Russia’s socioeconomic course.
The guidelines were approved the day before, at a meeting of the Presidium of the Central Committee and the PCFR Secretariat, attended by communist allies and governors, who collectively took stock of the work carried out in the last year, 2025, and identified the main tasks for 2026.
At a press conference, Zyuganov informed that preliminary meetings and consultations will be held at the beginning of February between the Vladimir Putin government and the communist bench, aiming to address the accountability that the president will give before parliament that same month.
Victory Program
Elections will be held in September for the national parliament (State Duma) and several other legislative bodies and local governments in Russia and the PCFR will also present, in February, the “Victory Program” and bills aimed at changing the liberal conception that dominates the Russian economy.
The communist leader harshly criticized the current economic management, pointing out that the growth rate fell from 4% to zero last year, a situation described as “unacceptable”.
The party proposes a package of bills to address acute problems. The proposals include regulating the prices of basic necessities, freezing housing prices and affordable higher education with a guaranteed first job for graduates.
Ulyanovsk – The city of Lenin
The PCFR proposes to double the budgets for science and education, with an emphasis on scientific-applied work. As an example of success, Zyuganov cited the city of Ulyanovsk, with development rates twice as high as the world average. The region is named in honor of Lenin (Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov) and its governor, Alexei Yuryevich Russkikh, is a prominent member of the PCFR.
The PCFR is preparing for the electoral campaign together with allies, with the program already approved. Zyuganov called for maximum cohesion, stating that “Without a turn to the left, without the affirmation of the principles of justice and internationalism, it will be impossible to defeat the new fascists and imperialists“.
Free Maduro and Cília and celebrate Fidel’s centenary
Zyuganov devoted a significant part of his speech to criticizing US foreign policy under Trump, describing it as “aggressive imperial policy”. He criticized the proposal for a “Peace Council” that would require contributions of one billion dollars from members and according to published statutes, Trump would have veto power over any proposal that he displeased. The communist leader compared Trump’s goals to those of Napoleon and Hitler.
Zyuganov also announced that the PCFR will promote, in 2026, the Third World Anti-Fascist Forum, which has already received a positive response from 165 organizations. The Russian leader gave great emphasis to two other topics: the release of Nicolás Maduro and Cília Flores and the celebration of Fidel Castro’s centenary:
“This Monday, a committee was effectively formed to free the main political prisoner of our time – Nicolás Maduro and his wife. All major public organizations, from the Russian War Veterans Association (LADA) to the Officers’ Union and the Writers’ Union, will participate. And we will do everything to ensure that the centenary of Fidel Castro’s birth is celebrated as the most significant and important event, not only politically, but also morally. I discussed this with all the country’s leaders, and these ideas were supported. I will announce this proposal today (Tuesday, 20th) from the rostrum of the State Duma, and I hope that both the ruling party and its subsidiary institutions will respond favorably“, by Gennady Zyuganov.
