The President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, made his traditional New Year’s address exposing, with an overview, the great achievements in the year 2025, as well as the country’s challenges for the coming year.

He highlighted with emphasis the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The country has undergone a real leap forward in the last five years. According to Xi Jinping:

“In the past five years, we have worked hard and moved forward with courage and perseverance. By overcoming countless difficulties and challenges, we have achieved goals and completed tasks, taking firm steps on the new journey of Chinese modernization. Our economy has been surpassing new milestones for years and could reach 140 trillion yuan this year, according to estimates. The strengths of economy, science&technology and national defense, as well as national power, have advanced to a new level.”

In fact, the last five years have marked a complete economic, political and social repositioning of China in the world. The country demonstrated the superiority of its political and social system by managing to face the technological blockade imposed by the United States and achieving first position in many cutting-edge technologies, such as those related to new, clean and renewable forms of energy. It is on the verge of achieving technological self-sufficiency in the semiconductor infrastructure and Artificial Intelligence sectors. Chinese achievements in this 14th Five-Year Plan are impressive from any angle of observation.

Social advances, under the synthesis of growing social stability in the country, were highlighted. It is interesting to note that Xi Jinping’s presentation places emphasis on the country’s unity, its celebrations standardized among the country’s different ethnicities and regions. In fact, the more Chinese development reaches the most distant regions of the nation and the more and more people have access to the fruits of development, the greater the social stability and the ability of China to show the world the virtues of socialism. The virtues of socialism must be contrasted with what we see today outside of China: an unstable world, where the concentration of income and wealth increases and countries like the United States are increasingly similar to machines for generating chaos, internal inequalities, racism and intolerant ideologies.

From our point of view, it is worth highlighting China’s growing importance as a pole of stability in an increasingly unstable and dangerous world. In the words of Xi Jinping:

“We continue to welcome the world with open arms. The Tianjin Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Global Women’s Summit were successfully held. Hainan Free Trade Port has officially started special customs operations. To better deal with climate change, our country announced the new Nationally Determined Contribution package. After formulating the three global initiatives on development, security and civilization, I introduced the Global Governance Initiative, with the aim of promoting a fairer and more equitable global governance system. equitable. Today’s world is experiencing intertwined changes and turbulence, and some regions still suffer from conflicts. China has always been on the right side of history and remains willing to promote, together with all countries, peace and development in the world, promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity.”

It is worth focusing more on this point. China has sought to offer fundamental initiatives for the reinvention of global governance. The People’s Republic of China has remained a calm voice to be heard by the different peoples of the world in the search for mediated solutions to complex conflicts. Each Chinese initiative refers to concrete issues of our time. From issues involving countries’ difficulties in achieving development and prosperity to delivering a fairer and more balanced form of governance. If the United States promotes blockades and sanctions, China opens its market to products from the world’s poorest countries. If the United States promotes bullyings of all kinds, the Chinese, with their mass production of equipment to mitigate the actions of the climate crisis, have been a factor in the rapid reduction in the prices of photovoltaic panels that are now beginning to inhabit the horizon of the Global South.

From Xi Jinping’s words, we can say, without any doubt, and taking Chinese achievements and their international impact as a starting point, that China is the most responsible country in the world. The country keeps its doors open while the West closes in on itself and finds no way out or solutions to an existential crisis that seems never-ending.
